Port Lympne Wild Animal Park
Every day is different at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park and there?s always something new to see and do. Set in 600 acres, including a magnificent mansion and 15 acres of landscaped gardens the park offers a totally wild day out for all the family! Port Lympne Wild Animal Park is home to the largest breeding herd of Black Rhino outside Africa as well as Siberian and Indian tigers, African elephants, small cats, monkeys, Barbary lions and many more rare and endangered species. The world?s largest gorillarium, ?The Palace of the Apes? is home to a family group of Gorillas, fed at 12 noon and 3:00pm daily. Make your visit to Port Lympne even more memorable by taking a day safari on The African Experience! Take your seat and head out into the wild where you?ll see giraffe, black rhino, zebra, wildebeest, ostrich, antelope and other wonderful wild animals roaming free as if on the plains of Africa. Subject to availability and small additional charge. Howletts & Port Lympne Wild Animal Parks were set up by the late John Aspinall with the aim of protecting and breeding rare and endangered species and returning to safe areas in their native homeland. World leaders in conservation the Parks have so far returned to the wild Przewalski's horses, black rhino, Sumatran rhino, Cape buffalo, ocelots, pythons and gorillas. As a registered charity all proceeds from your visit will go directly to our vital conservation work here and abroad including our gorilla rescue and rehabilitation projects in Africa. Open every day except Christmas day. Summer: 10am ? 6pm (last admission 4.30pm) Winter: 10am ? 5pm (last admission 3.30pm) HOW DO I GET TO PORT LYMPNE? BY ROAD Port Lympne is in Lympne, Nr Ashford, Kent. Leave the M20 at Junction 11 and follow the brown tourist signs to the park (about 10 minutes drive from the M20). Google maps BY RAIL Just over an hour from London Charing Cross or Victoria to Ashford International station. The park is then only a 20 minute bus ride away. BY BUS Stagecoach East Kent number 10 bus runs between Ashford and Folkestone via the park. For times please call 01233 620342 OVERSEAS The park is easily reached from the Channel ports and is only a 10 minute drive from Le Shuttle terminal. Eurostar passengers alighting at Ashford International station can take the number 10 Stagecoach bus to the park entrance.
